Breeding

"The Perfect Arabian is an ideal that has not yet existed, even among the most renowned horses of the past. But pieces of perfection do exist displayed in the offspring of those legendary horses whose bloodlines play a dominant role in the finest breeding programs today." (H.F. Kale & D.B. Whittlesey, "Pieces of Perfection: Genetic Knowledge Applied to Horse Breeding", 1980)

Less than a decade ago I began to admire Arabian horses and decided that I wanted to find a quality purebred to have some fun with in the show ring. In 1999 at Simeon Stud I found what I was then looking for and purchased the yearling Straight Egyptian colt Simeon Sayter [Anaza Bay Shahh x Simeon Setami by S.Sadik] who carried some of the best Egyptian bloodlines available in Australia. At the time I did not know that this was to lead me on a journey, not just in the show ring, but much further.  A journey that has become a vision and a goal.

As Sayter began to fulfil my expectations, the next logical step was to find some good mares to breed to him.

With advice, inspiration and assistance from some prominent breeders, plus a lot of research I sought out the best mares (in my opinion at that time) suitable in phenotype that were affordable and/or available to lease. Mares that carried proven bloodlines, first in the breeding paddock and then in the show ring.

Pathways to Perfection

the Vision of

De-Sharvarll  Arabians

De-Sharvarll Arabians was born and had embarked upon its journey! After four years of selective breeding we chose what we feel are the best progeny from those original mares and have retained two very special Sayter daughters (see Mare page) who have already proven themselves as premier broodmares.

Having established a strong basis for the phenotype we like (and having made the decision that a program of Straight Egyptians was not the way we wanted to proceed) the next logical step in our vision to creating our very own "Pieces of Perfection" was to search for a stallion carrying a pedigree of exceptional genotype and who was a living example of that pedigree in phenotype. A stallion to compliment and enhance our fillies and mares. Qualities like length and set of neck, with a lean throat; straight correct legs, good bone and feet; smooth top line and high tail set and most importantly with deep, long and powerful hindquarters; all which blend to give balanced, free-moving action and athletic ability. Another priority was a kind disposition and temperament.

This we found in the Pure Polish stallion Vox [*Vivo x Lamexa by *Mexi]. Of the beautiful Seglawi Jedrani strain, Vox has over a century of proven, tested and illustrious bloodlines from the world famous State Studs of Poland. Horses noted for their beauty, balance of structure, sound limbs, movement, athletic ability and inherent good natures. In researching his pedigree we found not only one of the most significant and influential Seglawi sire lines – Ilderim -but even more importantly one of the finest mare lines of Polish breeding in the world  - that of Woloszka. By utilizing these qualities over our mares then retaining daughters to use with our stallions, we feel we have established a breeding program to produce the highest quality of offspring to a foreseeable and successful future.

In 2003 Vox made his permanent home with us as Senior Sire and we have exclusive breeding rights to him from his breeder and owner, Michael R. Semchison who has joined the De-Sharvarll Team as Equine Consultant and Associate. Vox's first foal crop arrived in 2004 and exceeded our expectations. In the following seasons he continues to surpass himself giving us all that we were looking for and more, including size and extreme prettiness. Vox has proven himself to be a definite improver consistently producing quality - a true breeding stallion par excellence. Available only through purchase, his progeny off farm now include a remarkable Pure Polish son in Malaysia (exported iid x Gedye Enchantment) some purebred fillies, two geldings plus two Arabian Warm bloods in NSW and QLD..

We have since added a Pure Polish division to our breeding program and acquired the following mares:  Gedye Enchantment (exp. Malaysia 2005) and her 2004 filly De-Sharvarll Efyr by Polish Import *Fen, Gedye Lattika and her 2005 filly De-Sharvarall Eyelykah by the black Polish stallion Bittersweet, Gedye Eurydice, and Mexicalli.  In addition are our imported junior mares, Francjeska (USA) by Polish & US Reserve National Champion stallion Ganges and Demokracja USA, daughter of Polish, US & Cdn. National and Scottsdale Champion stallion Emanor.  All the bloodlines in our program are now linked through some of the finest World, National, and European Champion Arabian horses in the world today. Horses whose progeny continue to win in international arenas.

Added to the roster as up and coming Junior stallions are the 2006 Pure Polish Vox son Enspyrr x Gedye Eurydice, a spectacular colt who carries his royal pedigree in a format of today's Arabian - tall, typey, correct, balanced with extravagant movement and style; and our latest acquisition Halimas Saayid, a 2006 Egyptian bred colt of superlative phenotype, conformation and charisma who will be bringing a new dimension to our Polish/Egyptian related program. Currently our stallions are for the exclusive use of
De-Sharvarll Arabians, however private treaty enquiries are welcome.

Our aim at this stage is to breed superlative Arabian horses, not just to sell but retaining our own stock which will all be linked through these significant bloodlines, giving us a future in breeding and producing quality Arabian horses for decades to come. De-Sharvarll's vision and very own pathway to "Pieces of Perfection".
