“The Perfect Arabian is an ideal that has not yet existed, even among the most renowned horses of the past. But pieces of perfection do exist displayed in the offspring of those legendary horses whose bloodlines play a dominant role in the finest breeding programs today." (H.F. Kale & D.B. Whittlesey, "Pieces of Perfection: Genetic Knowledge Applied to Horse Breeding", 1980)

Less than a decade ago I began to admire Arabian horses and decided that I wanted to find a quality purebred to have some fun with in the show ring. In 1999 at Simeon Stud I found what I was then looking for and purchased the yearling Straight Egyptian colt Simeon Sayter [Anaza Bay Shahh (Imp. USA) x Simeon Setami by S.Sadik] who carried some of the best Egyptian bloodlines available in Australia. At the time I did not know that this was to lead me on a journey, not just in the show ring, but much further, a journey that has become a vision and a goal.

As Sayter began to fulfill my expectations, the next logical step was to find good mares to breed to him.  With advice, inspiration and assistance from s prominent breeders, plus my own research, I sought out the best mares (in my opinion at that time) suitable in phenotype that were affordable and/or available to lease; mares that carried proven bloodlines, first in the breeding paddock and then in the show ring.  De-Sharvarll Arabians was born and had embarked upon its journey! After four years of selective breeding we chose what we feel are the best progeny from those original mares and retained two very special Sayter daughters (see Mare page) who have proven themselves as premier broodmares.

Pathways to Perfection

the Vision of

De-Sharvarll  Arabians

Having established the base for the phenotype we like, the next logical step in our vision to creating our very own "Pieces of Perfection" was to search for a stallion carrying a pedigree of exceptional genotype and who was a living example of that pedigree in phenotype. A stallion to compliment and enhance our fillies and mares. This we found in the Pure Polish stallion Vox [*Vivo x Lamexa by *Mexi]. Of the beautiful Seglawi Jedrani strain, Vox had over a century of proven, tested and illustrious bloodlines from the world famous State Studs of Poland. Horses noted for their beauty, balance, structure, sound limbs, movement, athletic ability and inherent good natures.  In 2003 Vox made his permanent home with us as Senior Sire and we were given exclusive breeding rights to him from his breeder and owner, Michael R. Semchison who joined the De-Sharvarll Team as Equine Consultant and Associate. Vox's first foal crop arrived in 2004 exceeding all expectations.

This encouraged us to add a Pure Polish division to our breeding program and we acquired the following senior mares:  Gedye Enchantment (exp. Malaysia 2005) and her 2004 filly De-Sharvarll Efyr by Polish Import *Fen, Gedye Lattika and her 2005 filly De-Sharvarall Eyelykah by the black Polish stallion Bittersweet, Gedye Eurydice, and Mexicalli.   All of whom were daughters of previously imported Polish horses of note. Then we took a quantum step and imported two junior mares:  Francjeska (Imp. USA), by Polish & US Reserve National Champion stallion Ganges;  Demokracja US (Imp. USA) a daughter of Polish, USA and CDN. National Champion plus Scottsdale Champion stallion, Emanor.

In the subsequent years up until his recent demise Vox continued to surpass himself giving us all that we wanted and more, including size and extreme prettiness.  He was a definite improver consistently producing quality and the traits we were looking for - a true breeding stallion par excellence.  Though truly missed he will continue to influence our program through the superlative daughters and sons that we have kept.  His first grandget will arrive in the 2009 season. This influence also extends beyond the Stud with a pure Polish son exported to Malaysia, another pure Polish son and daughter in NSW, a Polish/Egyptian son in Tasmania and other progeny in New South Wales and Queensland including two Arabian Warmbloods.

After much deliberation this year (2009) we made the decision to adhere more closely to our original vision.  As a result we chose two outside stallions for this season - Magnum El Chall and Maraj El Dakar, both imported from the USA (see stallion page) to further concentrate and enhance the phenotype we are producing and which we prefer in De-Sharvarll bred horses.  Both of these stallions are exemplary representatives of their individual bloodlines, the elite of modern day show and breeding Arabians that are producing Show, Regional, National and World Champions.  We will continue to utilize this plan and until our own pure Polish junior colts are mature and ready to use in our program.

We are confident we have established a genetic program to produce superlative Arabian horses for any discipline, to sell and retain, giving us a future in breeding and producing quality Arabian horses for decades to come. De-Sharvarll's vision and own pathway to "Pieces of Perfection".
